Hi everyone back home in Pune,
Rekha and I have been in the US for the last 8 years or so. But now that our kids, Kalpana and Abhijit, 4 and 2 years old respectively, are approaching school age, we have decided we’d like to move back to Pune in a couple of years, when my current project in California ends.
Both of us are in the IT field, and our probable job locations are likely to be in Hinjewadi, Baner Road or perhaps even in Talawade where we used to work before we moved to the US. So we asked some friends to check out good housing prospects in the Western parts of Pune.
We do have a few preferences like lots of green spaces around, away from the maddening traffic and pollution that seems to be the norm in Pune these days and facilities for sports and exercise for all of us within the complex, or at least very nearby, like a Gym, Jogging Tracks, Ball games courts, swimming pool.
My friends have shortlisted a few likely prospects for us. Some which were very nice were way beyond our budget, and some others didn’t really excite us. The one which seems just right on many counts is a community called River Residency, in PCMC, quite close to Talawade where Rekha and I used to work.
A 3 bedroom apartment is on offer at around Rs 4.5 million, which seems fine.
Can anyone tell us something more about the Builder, the neighborhood and whether this part of Pune is really going to be developed in a systematic urban planning fashion, as the pictures we’ve seen of the flyovers and multi-lane roads seem to suggest?
We are planning to spend a couple of weeks in Pune in December, during which we would like to finalize our house, so would appreciate any inputs, pros or cons.
Cheers, and Happy Diwali.

I recently saw some really
I recently saw some really catchy hoardings of a residential project in Pimpri - Chinchwad called River Residency. It’s offering a lot of interesting amenities, including even Boating!
I found the hoarding design innovative —a striking mosaic of the amenities, cutely illustrated with a shopping Bag, Ball and an Oar!
I wonder if the Builder is really going to provide all this!
